Nozar Azani, PT

Nozar is passionate about rehabilitative medicine and has been a clinician for almost 15 years. His journey to becoming a physiotherapist began in high school when he was involved in competitive Tennis. His own injuries led him to seek treatment from a physiotherapist, and he became instantly interested in the profession.

Physiotherapy is an extremely rewarding career for Nozar. He considers himself extremely fortunate for his unique experience abroad and was inspired by some of the most influential physiotherapists. He has completed numerous courses including:

•    Advanced Spinal Manipulation Courses

•    Acupuncture Certification with “ Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute”

•    Various Orthopaedics, Sports and Neurological Courses as Continuing Education

•    Dry Needing Courses

He is very interested in motor vehicle injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, chronic pain conditions, TMJ, peripheral nerve injury, and complex clinical cases. Nozar loves the challenges of diagnosing musculoskeletal dysfunction. In addition, he has a special interest in sports injuries and loves working with athletes anywhere on the spectrum from injury prevention to rehabilitation to sports performance.

Cassandra graduated from UBC in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to working as a physiotherapist. Cassandra is certified to practice acupuncture (CAFCI) and K-taping. She has most recently completed both the Arthritis Society’s Getting a Grip on Arthritis® osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis education programs. She has taken several manual therapy courses under the orthopedic division (Level 3), as well as courses on muscle imbalance, core stability, dizziness, TMJ, and sports injury management and general rehabilitation.

With a variety of experiences in adult & children’s sports/orthopedic/MSK injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, and post-operative rehabilitation, Cassandra believes in a holistic approach to physical therapy. As a physiotherapist, Cassandra is passionate about providing individualized care for her patients to help maximize their quality of life and return to daily activities. She emphasizes a treatment approach that includes a thorough assessment, treatment plan and educating her patients to help better understand their bodies and functional movements. She strongly believes in taking her time to listen to her client’s needs and empower them to be proactive with their management. Her practice encompasses manual therapy, soft tissue techniques, exercise prescription, and patient education to ensure you reach your individual goals. Cassandra is continuously finding different ways to further her knowledge to effectively help individuals recover and reach their fullest potential.

Katie completed her Masters of Physical Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016 after obtaining her Bachelors of Human Kinetics at University of British Columbia. She has worked in hospital and private clinics settings, where she used a combination of corrective exercise, education, manual therapy and dry needling to optimize a patient’s outcome. She is a Certified Hand Therapist.

Her involvement in post graduate training, including hands – on orthopaedic manual theraoy levels through the Advanced Manual & Manipulative Therapy with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association supports her belief of implementing evidence-based practice.

David received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from UBC in 1998. In 2003, he achieved the internationally recognized designation of Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists. In 2004, David completed further training in vestibular (dizziness and balance) disorders. Since 2004, he has taught postgraduate courses in orthopaedic manual therapy for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Having been a competitive athlete himself, David has always had an interest in Sports Physiotherapy, and he has guided a range of athletes, from amateur to professional, back to competitive excellence. Serena received her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of British Columbia. She then completed a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree from University of Toronto in 2017. She has a strong passion in hand therapy and has worked in this specialized area of practice since completing her formal academic university education. She enjoys treating acute and chronic hand, wrist, and elbow injuries.

In spring 2022, she successfully obtained her certified hand therapist designation. She has extensive knowledge and skills in treating both acute and chronic hand injuries and conditions.

Luong received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. He then completed a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University. After completing his formal academic university education, he continued with post-graduate courses with a focus on manual therapy, exercise therapy, intramuscular stimulation (IMS), acupuncture, and concussion. He enjoys treating a full range of musculoskeletal dysfunctions with a particular interest in complex shoulder and knee injuries. Aside from his clinical work, he has been an instructor at Vancouver Community College (10 years) in the Department of Allied Health and has worked as a teaching assistant (10 years) for numerous courses in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. Sarah Jane grew up in Halifax Nova Scotia, and completed her Bachelors in Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University. She then went on to further her studies and completed her Masters in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. Sarah Jane grew up with an athletic background by spending her youth training as a competitive gymnast, and participating in track and field. Her love for physical activity continues to this day as she enjoys spending her down time going for runs along the water or hiking various different landscapes.

As a physiotherapist Sarah Jane is passionate about providing individualized care for her patients to help maximize their quality of life and return to daily activities. Shirley completed her Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia in 2017. She has since worked in a variety of settings, in both the hospital and private clinic settings.

She believes strongly in the importance of building good rapport and having a full understanding of her client as a person. In addition, she values education, prevention, and self-sufficiency. Shirley has a keen interest in hand therapy, and is currently working towards becoming a Certified Hand Therapist.

Lily has obtained her Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Western Ontario and Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto specializing in Physiology and Nutritional Sciences.

Lily is a ball of energy. She has a really quick mind and loves to work hard, problem solve and give things her all!! She can also listen well, and takes time to really understand your needs. Lily has a strong interest in research and practices with the combination of both clinical insight and the latest research in mind. Having published in various scholarly journals Lily is a true believer of evidence-based practice.

Growing up as an athlete, Lily is experienced in treating various orthopaedic presentations (injuries, pre and post op, or just waiting to move better). Lily utilizes both hands on manual therapy and exercise-based interventions, including mindfulness practice, postural corrections, manipulations, myofascial release, and life style modifications among others.
